Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
The race for European qualification in Serie A is reaching a critical juncture. With only three rounds remaining, four teams remain tightly bunched in the fight for fourth place. Bologna currently sit at the foot of that pack, but are only one point off the pace. Their next hurdle is a high-stakes encounter against AC Milan.
AC Milan
AC Milan have secured two consecutive league wins, but both came against sides battling relegation — Venezia (2:0) and Genoa (2:1). Crucially, the performances in those games were far from convincing. Across the two fixtures, the team conceded a total of 26 shots. Venezia, for example, produced 1.38 xG, yet failed to capitalise. Bologna, however, are unlikely to be as wasteful.
Bologna
In the previous round, Bologna drew 1:1 with Juventus, yet controlled large portions of the match, as reflected in their 65% possession. While they found it difficult to break down the opposition, much of that stemmed from the absence of their leading striker, Dan Ndoye, who has registered eight goals and three assists in 28 Serie A matches. He is expected to return for this fixture and could provide the clinical edge the team lacked. He notably scored the winner in the reverse fixture against AC Milan.
AC Milan vs Bologna Prediction
At this stage of the season, Bologna cannot afford to drop points. Having already beaten AC Milan (2:1) at home in late February, they now have a strong chance to replicate that outcome. Backing them with a handicap (0) offers a smart layer of protection.
