Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Fiorentina have recovered well from a recent dip in form and are once again pushing for a place in European competition. Just a point separates them from the top six. Next up, they face AC Milan, a side they defeated (2:1) in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
AC Milan
AC Milan have recorded only three wins in their last ten Serie A fixtures — all of which came against sides struggling near the bottom of the standings: Hellas Verona, US Lecce, and Como 1907. Under Sérgio Conceição, the squad have shown no meaningful progress defensively. They have suffered defeat in eight of those ten fixtures, conceding at least twice in five of them. In the others, their opponents were simply wasteful in front of goal. Their most recent match, a (1:1) draw with Inter Milan, saw them allow 18 shots and an xG tally of 1.55.
Fiorentina
Fiorentina went into the international break off the back of a commanding (3:0) win over Juventus, and resumed Serie A play with a (1:0) victory against Atalanta. The only goal in that match came from leading scorer Moise Kean, who now has 16 goals in 27 appearances this season. The team under Raffaele Palladino have also looked solid at the back. Atalanta, the second-highest scorers in the division, failed to register a single shot on target over the course of the match.
AC Milan vs Fiorentina Prediction
Despite this, AC Milan are being widely backed as favourites — a position that seems difficult to justify. Fiorentina are in excellent form and have just beaten third-placed Atalanta. They are unlikely to lose here, making a zero handicap on them a value play.
