Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the FIFA Club World Cup match.
Juventus come into this fixture as favourites, but Al-Ain possess enough attacking quality to present a real challenge. While Juventus arrive carrying their mixed domestic form, Al-Ain have bolstered their ranks ahead of the tournament.
Al-Ain
Al-Ain secured their place in the Club World Cup as AFC Champions League winners. Following a disappointing previous campaign, in which they failed to progress beyond the group stage, they redeemed themselves by defeating Yokohama F. Marinos (6:3 on aggregate) in this season’s final. Though the team placed fifth in the UAE Pro League, they demonstrated consistent attacking threat throughout. Striker Kodjo Laba was particularly impressive, scoring 20 goals. Additionally, experienced goalkeeper Rui Patrício recently joined the squad, bringing valuable international experience gained with the Portugal national team.
Juventus
Juventus are making their first appearance at the Club World Cup, but their recent performances have been far from convincing. Under Igor Tudor, the team finished fourth in Serie A and were eliminated from European competition in the Round of 32 by PSV Eindhoven. Despite ending their domestic campaign with a five-match unbeaten streak, they also led the league in draws — 16 in 38 matches — highlighting a lack of attacking sharpness. Their issues in the final third persist, with the club failing to win any of their last 18 matches by more than two goals. Even with forwards such as Dušan Vlahović, Randal Kolo Muani, and Arkadiusz Milik, the three combined for only 22 goals over the entire season.
Al-Ain vs Juventus Prediction
Al-Ain offer a genuine attacking threat and are unlikely to make things easy for Juventus, who have endured a somewhat lacklustre campaign. Juventus have struggled to find rhythm in front of goal, and their supporters have grown unaccustomed to dominant displays. While Al-Ain may not take the win, they are well-positioned to avoid a heavy defeat.
