Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Saudi Pro League match.
On the final matchday of the Saudi Pro League season, both Al-Taawoun and Al-Riyadh are looking to secure their positions in the top half of the standings. While Al-Taawoun are widely expected to come out on top, their recent lack of attacking efficiency suggests that this encounter may offer few clear-cut chances.
Al-Taawoun
Over the past month, Al-Taawoun have picked up only one win from five league outings — a run of form that has seen Al-Ettifaq overtake them for seventh place. Statistically, Al-Taawoun have been among the least prolific sides this season, with only 9 of their 32 matches featuring more than 2.5 goals — and just one of those coming in their last five games. On home soil, they have managed 21 goals in 16 matches, which ranks as the joint-lowest among the current top 10, alongside Al-Kholood and Damac.
Al-Riyadh
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s clash, Al-Riyadh have mirrored their opponents’ recent form, registering four points since 19 May. Before their 2:1 away win at Al-Khaleej, the team had gone without an away victory since early December — a stretch marked by seven defeats and a solitary draw. Al-Riyadh have limited depth, with the most familiar name being former Canada international goalkeeper Milan Borjan.
Al-Taawoun vs Al-Riyadh Prediction
In the reverse fixture, Al-Riyadh edged a narrow 1:0 home win over Al-Taawoun. The second leg between these mid-table sides looks set to be another low-scoring contest.
