Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Wimbledon match.
Alex de Minaur heads into the second round of Wimbledon as one of the most consistent top-15 players on the tour. The Australian delivered a confident performance in his opener against Roberto Carballés Baena, and overall, he’s won 13 of his last 16 Grand Slam matches. By contrast, Arthur Cazaux has taken the long route through qualifying and is coming into this clash having already played four matches — fatigue could well be a factor.
Alex de Minaur
De Minaur dispatched the Spaniard with ease in round one, winning 6:2, 6:2, 7:6. While his first-serve percentage was a modest 47%, he claimed 80% of points behind it and struck 39 winners. The Aussie is in his element on grass, particularly when facing players outside the top 100 — he boasts a 14–2 record in such matches, with the only defeats coming to Rafael Nadal and Marin Cilic, both former stars ranked unusually low at the time.
Arthur Cazaux
Cazaux has already logged four matches at Wimbledon and nearly let his last one slip despite leading 2-0 in sets against Adam Walton. The Frenchman saw his level drop and was pushed to a deciding set, which he narrowly won. His stats were less than convincing — just 66% of points won on first serve and 43 unforced errors. Against top-20 opposition, he holds a poor record: five defeats in seven matches.
Alex de Minaur vs Arthur Cazaux Prediction
De Minaur is generally ruthless in the early rounds and thrives against lower-ranked opponents. Given Cazaux’s heavy workload and patchy recent form, the Aussie is expected to close this out with room to spare.
