Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Roland Garros match.
Alexander Bublik continues to defy expectations on his least-favoured surface. While a fourth-round appearance at Wimbledon in 2021 was more in line with his game, a deep run at Roland Garros would mark a major personal milestone. Jack Draper, meanwhile, is targeting his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final — and his form suggests he’s ready to take that step.
Alexander Bublik
Currently ranked No.62, Bublik has had a surprisingly solid clay-court campaign, winning 14 of 19 matches this season. At Roland Garros, he was particularly impressive, defeating Alex de Minaur (No. 9) and not dropping a set to James Duckworth and Arthur Rinderknech. His serve has been a weapon as always — averaging 10 aces per match and winning 74% of points on his first delivery. However, Bublik tends to struggle against top-tier opposition, losing 8 of his last 10 encounters against top-5 players. Against Draper, he trails 1-2 in the head-to-head, but has won at least 10 games in each of those clashes.
Jack Draper
Draper has come into his own on clay in 2025, silencing the doubters with a 12-3 record on the surface and a finals appearance in Madrid, where he pushed Casper Ruud to three sets. At Roland Garros, the Brit has beaten Thomaz Bellucci (No.68), Gaël Monfils (No.42), and João Fonseca (No.65). He did drop sets in two of those matches and continues to struggle slightly with consistency on serve, averaging five double faults per outing.
Alexander Bublik vs Jack Draper Prediction
Both players have strong momentum, and while Draper’s overall clay form and physicality make him the favourite, Bublik's unpredictability and form can't be discounted. The Kazakh tends to rise to the occasion and should take at least a set off the Brit.
