Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA US Open match.
Alycia Parks is six years older than Mirra Andreeva, but has nowhere near the same career achievements. At just 18, the Russian is already considered one of the brightest young talents, while Parks is still searching for consistency. Most expect the American to struggle badly here.
Alycia Parks
Until recently, Parks had little to show for 2025. Her only notable results were semi-final runs in Auckland earlier in the year and in Monterrey last week, where she lost 3:6, 6:7 to Diana Shnaider. Parks has not played in the US Open main draw since 2023, and even then her runs ended in the first round.
Mirra Andreeva
Despite her young age, Andreeva has already made waves on tour, but the US Open has been her weakest Slam so far. She has only reached the second round twice, with hard courts proving her toughest surface. Her last appearance came in Montreal at the end of July, where she fell in the round of 32 to McCartney Kessler (6:7, 4:6). So, there are some question marks over her current form.
Alycia Parks vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction
Andreeva should progress, but Parks’ recent run in Monterrey showed she can compete against top-20 calibre opposition and extend rallies. The Russian is the clear favourite, yet this may not be a runaway.
