Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Wimbledon match.
Amanda Anisimova
Amanda Anisimova is breaking into the WTA top 10 for the first time in her career and has shown notable progress, particularly on grass, where she had never previously recorded more than 10 wins in a single season. However, her recent run at Wimbledon has exposed certain weaknesses. In her last two matches, against Coco Gauff and Linda Noskova, she dropped a set in each. The American has struggled with consistency, committing 134 unforced errors and 25 double faults over the course of four matches at the All England Club.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
Despite being one of the more experienced players on tour, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is enjoying a strong run of form. This marks her first Wimbledon quarter-final since 2016 and her second Grand Slam quarter-final appearance this year. While she has lost four of her last six encounters against top-20 opponents, she has shown the ability to raise her level against higher-ranked players — her win over Naomi Osaka, where she entered as the underdog, is a prime example. This season, Pavlyuchenkova has won seven of her eight matches on grass, with the total number of games in each match surpassing 22.5.
Amanda Anisimova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Prediction
Amanda Anisimova's form is not as solid as it might appear: her last two matches proved both physically and mentally taxing, with dropped sets and lapses in concentration. By contrast, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has displayed a composed and tactically sound approach. She is expected to challenge Anisimova and extend the contest to at least 21 games.
