Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA US Open match.
Anisimova arrives in New York amid a strong season and, for the first time, has reached the second week at her home Slam (the US Open). Victory in this match would set up a meeting with the winner of Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Iga Świątek. Standing in her way is Beatriz Haddad Maia, who reached the US Open quarter-finals last year.
Amanda Anisimova
In 2025 Anisimova has made significant strides: she has won 9 of her last 10 matches at Grand Slams and has cemented her place in the WTA top 10. In New York the American beat Kimberly Birrell (6:3, 6:2), Maya Joint (7:6, 6:2) and Jaqueline Cristian (6:4, 4:6, 6:2). Amanda has been especially effective behind her first serve — she has fired 20 aces across three matches and won 72% of points behind her first serve. On hard courts Anisimova has only seven defeats in 23 matches this season and she claimed the Doha title.
Beatriz Haddad Maia
Haddad Maia has timed her form to the US Open. She came through Sonay Kartal (6:3, 1:6, 6:1), Viktorija Golubic (6:1, 6:4) and Maria Sakkari (6:1, 6:2), dropping only one set. Across those three matches, the Brazilian conceded at most six games in any set. However, on hard courts her statistics are underwhelming — 12 losses in 17 matches in 2025. Moreover, at 9 of her 11 hard-court events Beatriz was eliminated in the first round, including a defeat to Linda Fruhvirtová (world No. 150) in Miami.
Amanda Anisimova vs Beatriz Haddad Maia Prediction
On hard courts Anisimova holds a clear edge over Haddad Maia, who has largely found her best tennis only at the Slams. Even the head-to-head favours the American, who leads 2-1, and in the upcoming match Amanda will win by at least four games.
