Panathinaikos could seal their place in the EuroLeague Final Four with a win tonight, but Efes, playing in front of their home crowd, will look to draw energy from the stands and keep their season alive. Much like the previous two quarter-final meetings, expect a defensive battle rather than a high-scoring affair — both sides are clearly committed to locking down on that end of the court.
Anadolu Efes
Anadolu Efes entered the playoffs as the sixth seed and have worn the underdog tag throughout the series. After stunning Panathinaikos in Game 2 in Athens (79:76), they flirted with a major upset but couldn’t capitalise in Game 3, letting the game slip in the middle quarters and ultimately falling 77:81. The absence of Rodrigue Beaubois continues to weigh heavily on Anadolu Efes. The 37-year-old guard has been sidelined with a calf injury for over a month, and Efes have struggled to adjust without his experience and offensive poise. Their recent home form doesn’t inspire confidence either, with back-to-back losses to Panathinaikos and Merkezefendi (97:100) in the Turkish Super League.
Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos fans might have hoped for a quick 3:0 sweep — especially with rivals Olympiacos and Fenerbahçe Beko already through — but they have still shown solid, composed basketball. Even without key rotation players Marius Grigonis and Mathias Lessort, Kendrick Nunn and the rest of the backcourt have held the defensive line effectively. Scoring around 80 points has been their benchmark in recent games, but tonight the priority will be containment — keeping Efes’ offence in check and managing the tempo.
Anadolu Efes vs Panathinaikos Prediction
Since early February, Panathinaikos have lost just once in 10 away games across all competitions. That said, Efes will be roared on by a fired-up home crowd and know it’s now or never. They'll likely be forced to grind it out at Panathinaikos’ pace, which sets us up for another low-scoring contest.
