Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Doha match.
Rublev is steadily returning to top form after a slow start to the season. He feels at home in Doha, having won the tournament in 2020 and reaching the final in 2018. De Minaur, meanwhile, started the year strongly but tends to struggle in the quarter-finals of big tournaments. The Australian leads their head-to-head series, but Rublev is determined to even the score.
Andrey Rublev
The Russian has improved significantly since his disappointing Australian Open run. He performed well in Montpellier and Rotterdam and has been dominant in Doha, beating Alexander Bublik (6:3, 6:4) and Nuno Borges (6:3, 6:4) without much resistance. Against Borges, he won 80% of points on his first serve and wrapped up the match in just over an hour.
Alex de Minaur
The Australian has been in excellent form this season, winning 13 matches in six weeks. However, quarter-finals have been a challenge—since 2024, he has lost six of ten matches at this stage. In the previous round, De Minaur defeated Botic van de Zandschulp (6:4, 6:4) but spent twice as much time on court as Rublev and almost conceded a break in the second set.
Andrey Rublev vs Alex de Minaur Prediction
Rublev and De Minaur have faced off seven times (3-4), and every match has exceeded 20 games. Given their head-to-head history and De Minaur’s fighting spirit, we expect a close battle that could go to a third set.
