Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Strasbourg match.
Danielle Collins has a strong record on clay and consistently performs well on this surface. In contrast, Anna Kalinskaya continues to struggle on clay, and her recent win over Jessica Pegula may be overvalued considering Jessica Pegula’s poor form.
Anna Kalinskaya
The 2025 season has been tough for Anna Kalinskaya, who currently holds a 9–10 win-loss record. Her quarter-final appearance in Strasbourg marks only her third such result this year. Since the start of 2024, she has claimed just two wins in six clay-court matches against top-50 ranked players. In the previous round, she beat Jessica Pegula, but Pegula’s level was far from her best, landing only 57% of first serves and committing seven double faults.
Danielle Collins
Danielle Collins has been in excellent form during the clay-court swing, winning six of her eight matches. Notably, she has beaten world No. 21 Jelena Ostapenko, the Stuttgart titleholder, and world No. 5 Iga Świątek. In Strasbourg, she continues to deliver high-level tennis. A finalist here last year, she has now won five of her last six matches at this event. This season, she has come through two demanding three-set contests, defeating Sofia Kenin (6:1, 1:6, 6:2) and Emma Raducanu (4:6, 6:1, 6:3), while serving 19 aces across those two matches.
Anna Kalinskaya vs Danielle Collins Prediction
Danielle Collins is playing with confidence and power, is far more comfortable on clay, and holds a 2-0 advantage in their head-to-head meetings. It is difficult to see Anna Kalinskaya progressing further, especially at a tournament that continues to favour Collins.
