Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA US Open match.
Anna Kalinskaya and Iga Świątek meet again on hard courts; their most recent encounter came only a couple of weeks ago in Cincinnati and ended with Iga winning in straight sets. This time the match takes place in New York, and Anna will try to replicate the success of eighteen months ago, when she defeated Świątek in Dubai.
Anna Kalinskaya
Anna Kalinskaya moved through the second round convincingly, beating Yulia Putintseva (6:1, 7:5). The Russian won 83% of points behind her first serve and was broken only once. Overall, in recent matches against top-10 opponents, Anna has largely held her own — in four of six hard-court meetings she managed to win at least nine games.
Iga Świątek
Iga Świątek, meanwhile, encountered unexpectedly serious resistance against Suzan Lamens. In the first set the Pole dominated and allowed her opponent only one game, but in the second set her first-serve points won dropped to 50%, and the contest went to a decider. Even so, Iga continues to post a strong win rate on hard courts: five of her last six matches against top-30 opposition have ended in her favour.
Anna Kalinskaya vs Iga Świątek Prediction
Kalinskaya brings a powerful serve and assured returning, while Świątek has shown she can have mid‑match lapses. The Russian looks capable of covering a positive games handicap.
