Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Champions League match.
Last week in Bratislava, APOEL had bad luck with Rodosav Petrovic’s own goal. After that, Slovan scored again (2:0). APOEL is in a tough spot, they can still save themselves, but they need to attack better.
APOEL
In the first match against Slovan, Max Meyer started for APOEL, the former Schalke and Crystal Palace player is expected to make a big impact. After Slovan scored, Mayer was substituted by another star signing, Youssef El Arabi. Both players created some chances near the opponent’s penalty box, but couldn’t score. The team only had four shots, not many, but Slovan didn’t attack much either.
Slovan
Petrovic’s own goal was definitely lucky for Slovan. They also made a good substitution. Robert Mark and Nino Marcelli came off the bench and set up a goal in extra time, the former Zenit player scored. In Cyprus, the team will probably defend, but they struggled in away games in the Champions League, a tough game against Struga (2:1) and a draw with Celje (1:1). APOEL is a stronger opponent.
APOEL - Slovan Prediction
At home, APOEL has a chance to reach the final qualifying round. We’ll bet on APOEL, at least they won’t lose.
