Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the International Rugby Union match.
A week ago, England did more than just secure a win over Argentina in La Plata, as they had in previous meetings — they delivered a commanding display, finishing 35:12.
Argentina
That defeat ended a run of two consecutive wins. Prior to that, the squad managed to edge past the 2023 World Cup and 2024 Rugby Championship winners, South Africa, by a narrow 29:28 margin in the Southern Hemisphere tournament. The opening half of that encounter was particularly cagey, with only a penalty goal successfully converted by George Ford.
England
The visitors struggled to extend their lead after being reduced to 13 men, following two yellow cards in quick succession around the 21st minute. However, they responded after half-time with an immediate try, largely driven by the forwards, with Tom Roebuck grounding the ball. A disastrous seven-minute spell from the 41st to the 48th minute — during which they conceded three tries — ultimately sealed a heavy loss for the hosts.
Argentina vs England Prediction
It remains to be seen whether Argentina will falter in a similar manner in the second fixture, but expectations have dropped regarding their ability to pose a serious threat. Regardless of the final score, England are tipped to emerge victorious.
