Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
Arsenal's impressive attacking form consistently allows them to create opportunities both in open play and from free kicks and corners. Against AS Monaco, they have a strong chance of victory—they are keen to remain in the top eight of the group stage, especially as AS Monaco often falter defensively.
Arsenal
Following the November international break, Arsenal secured four consecutive victories with an aggregate score of 15:3. In Lisbon against Sporting CP (5:1), they played aggressively in the opponent's half, creating a significant advantage (3.89 xG and nine shots on target). At Fulham (1:1), Arsenal were also more threatening up front (1.93–0.14 in xG) but allowed Fulham a scoring chance at their goal.
AS Monaco
In the past month, four of AS Monaco's five matches in the UCL and Ligue 1 resulted in a total over 2.5. At home against Benfica (2:3), Monaco frequently permitted their opponents to attack, and a tense finish led to the sending off of defender Wilfried Singo (another defender, Christian Mawissa, will also miss the next match due to suspension). Notably, in the top 15, only Atlético Madrid have conceded more goals than AS Monaco (7 vs 9), so they are likely to continue making errors at the Emirates.
Arsenal vs AS Monaco Prediction
In 10 home fixtures this campaign, Arsenal have won eight times. There's no need to risk and bet on a handicap for the London side, especially as Monaco are effective on counter-attacks. It's wiser to bet on a total over, as both teams will provide an exciting goal-fest.
