Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Wimbledon qualifying match.
Dušan Lajović is still acclimatising to the grass-court season, but he successfully came through his opening match despite the tricky switch from clay. A rest day between rounds could work to his advantage, especially given his experience competing at higher levels.
Arthur Bouquier
Currently ranked No. 233 in the ATP standings, Arthur Bouquier plays an aggressive, high-tempo game driven by power, a style theoretically well-suited to grass. However, his first-round performance against Alastair Gray (ATP No. 370) left much to be desired. Bouquier landed only 65% of his first serves and recorded six double faults. His limited experience on grass is also a concern — throughout his career, he has played just four matches on this surface, winning only two.
Dušan Lajović
While Dušan Lajović is not a grass-court specialist either, he has won five of his last eight matches on this surface over the past five years. He is particularly effective against opponents with less experience, having won 15 of 22 matches against lower-ranked players between 2024 and 2025. In the Wimbledon qualifiers, Dušan Lajović beat Liam Draxl (ATP No. 150), firing seven aces and winning 70% of points on his first serve.
Arthur Bouquier vs Dušan Lajović Prediction
Dušan Lajović is the more experienced of the two and typically has no trouble dispatching players ranked significantly below him. Given that Arthur Bouquier sits outside the top 200, he is unlikely to pose a serious threat to the 34-year-old Serbian.
