Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Wimbledon match.
Wimbledon has traditionally been the toughest Grand Slam for Alexander Zverev. His fourth-round finish last year matched his best-ever result. In 2025, the German is determined to go further.
Arthur Rinderknech
His first hurdle comes in the form of Arthur Rinderknech. The Frenchman reached the second round here last year, where he lost to a similarly ranked opponent — No. 13 seed Taylor Fritz — in four sets (:3, 6:4, 3:6, 6:4). That season was a far more productive one for Rinderknech, who finished with an almost even win-loss record (21-22). This year has been a struggle, with a disappointing 8-17 tally so far. His only decent showing on grass came at Queen’s Club, where he reached the quarter-finals.
Alexander Zverev
Zverev, meanwhile, holds his lowest career Grand Slam win percentage at Wimbledon (67%), but he’s only failed to get through the opening round once — a shock straight-sets loss to Steve Darcis back in 2019. Right now, though, the German looks solid. In Stuttgart, he only lost in the final to World No. 7 Taylor Fritz. He followed that up with a semi-final run in Halle, where he pushed Daniil Medvedev (No. 11) all the way. Both defeats came in tightly contested matches.
Arthur Rinderknech vs Alexander Zverev Prediction
This will be their first head-to-head meeting, but based on current form and grass-court pedigree, Zverev should cruise through with room to spare.
