Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Roland Garros match.
Iga Świątek is a four-time Roland Garros champion and remains in the hunt for another title, but her route to the final is becoming increasingly difficult. She has not lifted a trophy in quite some time, having fallen at the semi-finals stage in her last six tournaments, and her place in the top five of the rankings is under threat. Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka is on a strong run, having secured three titles this season and advanced through Roland Garros without dropping a set.
Aryna Sabalenka
Sabalenka is enjoying one of the most successful seasons of her career. In 2025, she has registered 16 wins and only two losses on clay, with 14 of those victories coming in straight sets. This year at Roland Garros, the world number one has not required more than 22 games to close out any match. In her 12 meetings with Iga Świątek, only five matches have featured more than 25 games.
Iga Świątek
Though long regarded as the dominant force on clay, Świątek is currently struggling to find top form. She had previously won 26 consecutive matches at Roland Garros, but her 2025 clay record stands at 11 wins and three defeats. She has also failed to reach a single final this season. Her performance in Paris has been marked by inconsistency, particularly on serve — with just 59% first-serve accuracy and 70% of points won on it — and signs of fatigue late in sets. Despite leading the head-to-head 9–4 against Arina Sobolenko, recent form clearly favours Aryna Sabalenka.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Iga Świątek Prediction
Aryna Sabalenka is in excellent shape, while Iga Świątek is evidently below her best. With six finals already this year compared to six straight semi-finals eliminations for Iga Świątek, the momentum is firmly behind Sabalenka. Expect Sabalenka to progress, likely wrapping up the match within 22 games.
