Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Wimbledon match.
For Laura Siegemund, this quarter-final marks a career milestone. The 37-year-old German is just one win away from reaching her first-ever semi-final at a Grand Slam on grass. Aryna Sabalenka, in contrast, is aiming for her third straight Wimbledon semi-final and has yet to concede a set at this year’s tournament.
Aryna Sabalenka
Currently ranked world number one, Aryna Sabalenka remains the frontrunner for the title. In 2025, she has claimed victory in six of her seven grass-court matches. However, five of those wins have come via tie-breaks. While she has maintained a clean sheet in sets, she has allowed each of her last three opponents — Marie Bouzkova, Emma Raducanu, and Elise Mertens — to win 10 games apiece in their respective matches.
Laura Siegemund
Laura Siegemund has been one of the standout performers of the tournament. She has posted an impressive 76% first-serve accuracy, pairing consistent serving with sharp movement and a tactically astute game. She has not dropped a set across four rounds, conceding no more than six games in any match. Her run has included victories over two top-50 players — Peyton Stearns and Leylah Fernandez — as well as world number eight Madison Keys. Remarkably, in each of her last nine Wimbledon appearances, Siegemund has won at least one set. She alters pace well, forces errors, and is averaging just 16 unforced errors per match.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Laura Siegemund Prediction
Laura Siegemund comes into this clash in excellent form, using a composed, cerebral approach to expose her opponents’ weaknesses. While Aryna Sabalenka has been dominant in terms of set scorelines, she has often allowed her opponents to win a notable number of games. Siegemund should be capable of putting up strong resistance here and is well-positioned to claim at least six games in this match.
