Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Since parting ways with Daniel De Rossi, AS Roma have seen an upturn in their results, and now they face bottom-of-the-table Venezia at home. Roma should comfortably defeat the newly promoted side, given their roster of top players.
AS Roma
After the international break, Roma have scored five goals in three matches. Against Udinese Calcio (3:0) in the last round, their new head coach Ivan Jurić had an impressive debut, securing a deserved victory (1.92 xG and 8-2 in shots on target). Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk scored his first goal in the Europa League for Roma on Thursday, marking his third consecutive game with a goal. In the match against Athletic Bilbao (1:1), the team returned to a 3-5-2 formation, which continues to create scoring opportunities.
Venezia
Despite ending their five-game winless streak, Venezia have not managed to climb out of the Serie A relegation zone. They have not allowed many chances this season (7.38 xGA) but are among the league's worst in terms of goals conceded—eight goals allowed (only three teams have a worse defence). Former Roma coach Daniel Di Francesco is facing several injury issues, with defender Giorgio Altare and midfielder Alfred Duncan still out of the lineup.
AS Roma vs Venezia Prediction
By the end of September, Roma have climbed into the top six of Serie A in xG (8.95), indicating a high-quality attack. Venezia, on the other hand, have struggled in previous matches against top opponents (conceding seven goals in total against Lazio and AC Milan), so the home side should score at least twice at the Stadio Olimpico.
