Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
Valencia Basket are preparing to return to the EuroLeague and make a statement. They do not start at home, but the schedule is favourable. Their opponents are ASVEL, one of the leading relegation candidates.
ASVEL
The primary goal for ASVEL this season is to avoid finishing bottom. In last year’s regular season they posted respectable results thanks to the excellent Théo Maledon, who moved to Real Madrid. In addition, ASVEL enter the campaign with only two centres, neither of whom have played in the EuroLeague.
Valencia Basket
Valencia Basket fell just short of winning the EuroCup last season, yet their ultra-attacking style won over the neutrals. Over the summer, the hierarchy kept the core together and added the centre Neal Sako. He fits the head coach’s philosophy perfectly and will certainly strengthen the team.
ASVEL vs Valencia Basket Prediction
Valencia Basket have the tools to push for the play-in and they clearly intend to show it in the opening game. ASVEL are in the midst of a rebuild and will only win on rare occasions.
