Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
Following a disappointing home stretch, the Minnesota Timberwolves head to Georgia, where the local side, the Atlanta Hawks, are attempting to find their stride without their main star, Trae Young. Can the Timberwolves begin their road trip with a victory?
Atlanta Hawks
Since the start of the regular season, Quin Snyder has struggled to fix the Atlanta Hawks' dreadful defence. Currently, they rank 28th in the league, conceding an average of 119.6 points per game and allowing opponents an average of 92 shots. Under these circumstances, offence is their sole hope. However, with Trae Young sidelined, who was contributing nearly 22 points and over 12 assists per game, it's no surprise that the Hawks managed only 112 points against even the Memphis Grizzlies’ defence.
Minnesota Timberwolves
In contrast, the Timberwolves are among the league's most pragmatic teams. Their defence ranks fourth in the NBA, allowing only 106.9 points per game. They limit opponents to just 87 shots and a field goal percentage of 45.6%. Their offence relies entirely on their defence, focusing mainly on slowing the pace to minimise mistakes on the opponent's end. This approach has placed the Timberwolves among the top five most disciplined teams in terms of committing the fewest fouls.
Atlanta Hawks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction
We believe the visitors’ defensive performance will be the deciding factor in this match. The Hawks are facing significant issues that are unlikely to be resolved before their star’s return. The Timberwolves will impose their style of play and confidently see the game through to a victorious end.
