Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Atlanta Hawks have, for the first time this season, put together a three-game winning streak. Impressively, they have twice beaten the Cleveland Cavaliers, who lead the Eastern Conference. This time, they face a less formidable opponent, but that doesn't guarantee anything.
Atlanta Hawks
To understand how inconsistent the Hawks have been this season, consider these two simple facts: they have beaten the Cavaliers twice but have also managed to lose to the Washington Wizards twice. In this context, it's unsurprising that the Hawks struggled in their recent game against the Charlotte Hornets (107:104), even without LaMelo Ball on the court.
New Orleans Pelicans
The primary hopes for the Pelicans rest on the return of their leaders from the sidelines, and there are positive signs in this regard. At least on the perimeter, the Pelicans look competitive: both CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray are playing. Following their injuries, both have consistently posted double-digit points, with CJ even dropping 30 points on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Atlanta Hawks vs New Orleans Pelicans Prediction
Exercise caution with the Hawks in the role of favourites, especially such heavy ones. The Pelicans have enough quick-footed and tenacious defenders capable of forcing turnovers, of which the Hawks usually have aplenty — even recording 22 against the Charlotte Hornets. The favourable schedule is not a significant advantage for the hosts, either: two wins and two losses with an average point differential of (-5.3), ranking as the sixth worst.
