Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Argentine Primera División match.
Banfield
This status might raise eyebrows considering Banfield finished second from bottom in their Apertura 2025 group and placed 26th out of 30 in the overall Professional League standings. These poor results led to the dismissal of head coach Ariel Broggi, who had only taken charge in January. The final match of the Apertura 2025 and a subsequent cup game were managed by the vastly more experienced Pedro Troglio, who turns 60 soon. During the off-season, the squad played two friendlies under his leadership against Brazilian sides: a 1:0 win over Desportiva Ferroviária and a 0:1 defeat to Cruzeiro.
Defensa y Justicia
Finishing 17th out of 30 in the first phase of the 2025 Argentine campaign and failing to reach the play-offs was also deemed below par by Defensa y Justicia management. As a result, head coach Pablo de Muner was dismissed. Before head coach Mariano Soso officially took over on 9 June, the squad was temporarily led by Tobías Kohan and Alejandro Kohan, who typically work with the reserve team. Under Mariano Soso, the squad also faced the same Brazilian opponents as Banfield, recording a 1:0 win over Cruzeiro and a 2:1 victory against Desportiva Ferroviária.
Banfield vs Defensa y Justicia Prediction
Managerial changes often bring instability, and results can be unpredictable. However, based on Apertura 2025 performances and friendlies against the same opposition, we expect Defensa y Justicia to at least avoid defeat.
