Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Barcelona are enjoying a superb season and head into Matchday 29 of La Liga riding a 19-match unbeaten run across all competitions (16 wins, 3 draws). With Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid breathing down their necks, there’s no margin for error — dropped points in fixtures like this are out of the question.
Barcelona
The Catalan giants have won eight straight matches, scoring 26 goals in that stretch. Their attacking output — 78 goals in 28 league games — is the best in the division. Robert Lewandowski leads the charge with 23 goals, Raphinha Dias has delivered a 13+8 contribution, and Lamine Yamal has added 11 assists. However, with a crucial Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid looming, Xavi Hernández is likely to rotate his squad. Even so, Barcelona’s bench is loaded with hungry talent eager to prove they belong in the starting line-up.
Girona
Girona, meanwhile, have faded after a strong start to the campaign. They have slipped to 13th in the table and sit ten points off the European spots. They’ve failed to win any of their last six league outings. On the road, Girona have struggled against top opposition, losing 0:2 to Real Madrid, 0:3 to Athletic Bilbao, and 0:3 to Atlético Madrid . They were also soundly beaten by Barcelona in the reverse fixture (1:4).
Barcelona vs Girona Prediction
Barcelona are steamrolling opponents, while Girona have fallen back to mid-table reality and consistently faltered against elite sides. Even with expected rotation ahead of their Copa clash, they should still have more than enough to win comfortably.
