Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Mallorca, having re-entered the race for European qualification, will hope to take advantage of a potentially distracted Barcelona on Tuesday, with the hosts already shifting some of their focus to Saturday’s Copa del Rey final. However, with only a narrow margin separating them from Real Madrid in the La Liga standings, Barcelona cannot afford to take their foot off the gas — they are currently enjoying excellent form.
Barcelona
The 3:1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals did not hinder Barcelona's progress to the next round — it was their first defeat of 2025. On Saturday, the team bounced back with a 4:3 win over Celta de Vigo, thanks to a hat-trick from Borja Iglesias; both Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal delivered impactful cameos from the bench, while Raphinha Dias sealed the result with a penalty and added two goals and an assist. Even in the absence of Robert Lewandowski, likely to be replaced in the starting line-up by Ferran Torres, Barcelona have plenty of attacking depth to call upon. Since the start of January, the team has scored 37 goals across 13 La Liga fixtures.
Mallorca
Mallorca, in contrast, have faced a difficult 2025 campaign. Their downturn began with a disappointing Copa del Rey elimination, which triggered a sequence of five straight defeats. While they have shown signs of recovery, issues remain — losses to Valencia (0:1) and Celta de Vigo (1:2) came with a combined xG of just 1.08. Since January, Mallorca have posted just 15.38 xG in La Liga — only four sides have created fewer chances.
Barcelona vs Mallorca Prediction
In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Barcelona dismantled Mallorca’s defence in a 5:1 away win. Even without a full-strength line-up, the hosts are expected to claim three vital points — the title race is still very much alive.
