Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women's Champions League match.
Following an unexpected away defeat to Manchester City (0:2) in the first leg, Barcelona gave Hammarby no chance in their home game (9:0). Next up for the Catalan side is a meeting with St. Pölten, the group's underdogs, who are in a daunting position ahead of a tough away trip.
Barcelona (women)
That slip-up against Manchester City remains Barcelona's only defeat in 11 matches this campaign (the other 10 have been victories). Over the past month, they have notched up five consecutive wins with a combined score of 27:2. Against Hammarby in the second round of the group stage, the favourites were in top form: Clàudia Pina and Caroline Graham both scored twice. Let's not forget that at the Women's Ballon d'Or ceremony, the top three spots were taken by the Catalans, with Aitana Bonmatí winning the award for the second year running.
St. Pölten (women)
In the match between the group's two underdogs, St. Pölten couldn't compete with Hammarby (0:2), surrendering the initiative to the Swedes (1-8 in shots on target). At home against Manchester City (2:3), the Austrians performed well, but away, they risk another defensive collapse. Barcelona will adapt to the opponent's 4-3-3 formation with vertical play.
Barcelona (women) vs St. Pölten (women) Prediction
St. Pölten will have no chance against the Catalans. It seems Barcelona will easily extend their winning streak and, if they hit their stride, could even score in double figures.
