Adam Williams presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
Since 26 January, Baskonia have only managed to secure victories on home court, regardless of the level of their opposition. While this might seem coincidental, the trend has held firm, and the home fans will once again be anticipating a win. However, the team faces a stern test up next against ASVEL, a squad that refuses to be intimidated by any opponent.
Baskonia
Baskonia enter this fixture on the back of a three-game losing streak. While their EuroLeague struggles are well-known, a recent 82:88 loss to Breogan, the bottom side in the Liga Endesa, has intensified concerns. The team's offence has faltered, averaging just 78.3 points over their last three outings. Markus Howard has been particularly inconsistent — in Round 32 against Fenerbahce, he posted just three points. Chima Moneke has also struggled to make an impact, contributing only 6.6 points per game during the same stretch.
ASVEL
ASVEL arrive with four straight wins, including notable results against EuroLeague leaders Olympiacos (81:70) and fellow contenders AS Monaco Basket (94:86). This impressive run has been powered by the excellent form of Theo Maledon, who is averaging 23.5 points per game during this surge. Veteran guard Nando De Colo has also played a key role, scoring 18 and 16 points in Rounds 31 and 32 respectively.
Baskonia vs ASVEL Prediction
In the reverse fixture in Lyon, ASVEL came out on top with a 76:69 victory. Given Baskonia’s recent poor form and the evident lack of drive within the squad, backing ASVEL to repeat their success looks like the logical choice.
