Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Premiership Rugby Cup Quarter-Final match.
Both clubs topped their groups in the first stage of the Premiership Rugby Cup, but Harlequins enter as an unseeded side due to an inferior points difference.
Bath
Bath suffered only one defeat in the group stage, and that came in the final match when their qualification was already secured. That loss (20:41) came against Bristol Bears, a side directly behind them in the Premiership table. Importantly, Bath’s home form is impressive—only two defeats in their last 10 matches at the Recreation Ground. The last time they hosted Harlequins, back at the end of 2023, they secured a 25:17 victory.
Harlequins
Harlequins also lost their final Cup group match, but in much tighter fashion. A late penalty from Saracens sealed a 30:29 win for the visitors. Harlequins have struggled for consistency on the road, winning only two of their last six away matches. Those victories came against Ealing Trailfinders (32:10) from the Championship and bottom-of-the-table Newcastle Falcons (38:14). When they have lost, the margins have been significant—by at least two points against Saracens and by 11 or more in other matches.
Bath vs Harlequins Prediction
The last four meetings between these teams have seen alternating winners, but Bath look like the most balanced side in English rugby right now. Their strong leadership in the Premiership underlines their credentials. We expect the hosts to come out on top, regardless of the margin.
