Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Bundesliga match.
Bayern Munich’s attacking output currently ranks among the most impressive in Europe’s top five leagues. The squad are looking to pull clear early in the Bundesliga title race, while Werder Bremen have struggled at the start; the favourite should be able to capitalise on their defensive issues.
Bayern Munich
The 4:1 away win at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim last time out was Bayern Munich’s seventh straight victory to open the season. Across that run, only Stuttgart kept it to fewer than three conceded, a 2:1 in the German Super Cup. The club remain the only side yet to drop points in the Bundesliga, with goals scored and conceded (18:3). The top 10 in the scoring charts feature a cluster of the club’s players — Michael Olise (3+1), Luis Díaz (3+2), Serge Gnabry (3+2) and Harry Kane ((8+3).
Werder Bremen
At the weekend, Werder Bremen suffered a painful 0:3 loss to inconsistent Freiburg, edging towards the relegation zone. Over four matchdays they have shipped 10 goals — only Union Berlin are worse with 11. In Munich, the team will be without the injured player, Niklas Stark and Mitchell Weiser, all of whom would be in the starting XI if fully fit.
Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen Prediction
Since Vincent Kompany took charge, Bayern Munich have given Werder Bremen no chance head-to-head (5:0 and 3:0). The team should kick off the matchweek with intent; another emphatic win would add impetus before the trip to Pafos in the Champions League.
