Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA 's-Hertogenbosch match.
The grass-court swing gets underway with two tournaments, including the WTA 250 event in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In the second round, 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu takes on New Zealand’s rising star Lulu Sun.
Bianca Andreescu
Making her first appearance of the season on grass, Andreescu eased past qualifier Joanna Garland in straight sets (6:1, 6:3). It was a relatively straightforward win that required just a handful of breaks. The Canadian is competing in the main draw thanks to a wild card and continues her attempt to rebuild form and rhythm after a difficult stretch — highlighted by a failed Roland Garros qualifying campaign where she exited in the second round.
Lulu Sun
Currently ranked 43rd in the world — significantly higher than Andreescu (No.118) — Sun made light work of her opener, dismissing Anouck Vrancken Peeters by the same scoreline: 6;1, 6:3. The 23-year-old New Zealander entered directly into the French Open main draw but lost in the first round to fellow Canadian Victoria Mboko (1:6, 6:7).
Bianca Andreescu vs Lulu Sun Prediction
On paper, Andreescu’s pedigree — a Grand Slam champion and former World No.4 — gives her an edge. But inconsistency and long absences from the tour still raise concerns. Sun, meanwhile, is more match-sharp and climbing steadily in the rankings. While Bianca is narrowly favoured, the encounter appears more evenly matched in reality. With that in mind, backing Lulu Sun with a positive game handicap looks a sensible play.
