Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
The new-look league phase of the Champions League has thrown up some familiar fixtures, with Bodø/Glimt and Tottenham Hotspur meeting again after clashing in last season’s Europa League knockouts. Tottenham Hotspur, of course, booked their place in this competition thanks to lifting that very trophy in 2024/25.
Bodø/Glimt
The Norwegians were one of the biggest surprises of last season’s Europa League, reaching the semi-finals after knocking out Twente, Olympiacos and Lazio, before eventually falling to Tottenham Hotspur (1:3, 0:2). Despite that fairytale run, this is their debut campaign in the Champions League proper. Their opening match showed both vulnerability and resilience — trailing 0:2 to Slavia Prague, they fought back to earn a 2:2 draw.
Tottenham Hotspur
The Europa League holders started with a hard-fought 1:0 victory over Villarreal in London, taking advantage of an early goalkeeping error before seeing out a cagey contest in which both sides managed just one shot on target apiece. Since then, Tottenham Hotspur have avoided defeat, drawing twice in the Premier League and progressing in the EFL Cup. Their only setbacks this season remain the extra-time loss to Bournemouth (0:1) in the league and a Super Cup shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (2:3).
Bodø/Glimt vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction
The conditions north of the Arctic Circle shouldn’t unsettle Tottenham Hotspur, though Slavia Prague exposed weaknesses in Bodø/Glimt’s wide areas that the English side are more than capable of exploiting. That said, wastefulness in front of goal has occasionally crept into Tottenham Hotspur’s play, so backing them with the safety net of a draw looks sensible.
