Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Irish Premier Division match.
Almost all of the chasing teams dropped points, and Shamrock Rovers are accelerating towards the title. In Round 21, they have the chance to set back one of their direct rivals — Bohemian.
Bohemian
Bohemian were among the sides to suffer defeat in Round 20, losing to a team from the lower half of the standings. They travelled to face Waterford, a club without a win in four matches but one that had been consistently scoring at home. In some cases, those goals weren’t enough to avoid defeat — such as their 1:3 loss to Shamrock Rovers — but against other opponents, Waterford had collected seven of a possible nine points on home soil. With that in mind, a 1:2 defeat — which included a goal conceded from the penalty spot — is not entirely surprising. Still, Bohemian have shown strong form at Dalymount Park, recording five wins in six home matches since the beginning of April. The only blip in that run was, once again, against Waterford (1:2), adding a layer of motivation going into this fixture.
Shamrock Rovers
Since the beginning of May, Shamrock Rovers have failed to win only twice in ten outings — both of which ended in draws. One came against bottom-placed Cork City (1:1), and the other was a goalless result in Dublin against Galway United, another team from the lower reaches of the standings. If the squad has dropped points against such opponents, they might well do so again against the current third-placed side in the Irish Premier Division. It is also notable that, despite their recent string of victories, the team has conceded in each of their last four matches — all of which ended with a single goal against.
Bohemian vs Shamrock Rovers Prediction
Bohemian have also recorded four clean-sheet wins in their last six league fixtures. Their head-to-head record adds further optimism for their fans: since the start of 2024, the two clubs have faced off seven times, with Bohemian winning four of those encounters. At Dalymount Park, their results are even more impressive — three wins and one draw. So, while Shamrock Rovers are currently unbeaten in 11 matches, it’s worth remembering that this run began following a 2:3 home defeat to this very opponent. That context gives Bohemian every reason to believe they can take at least a point here.
