Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Following their 1:0 victory over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final, Bologna may not be fully motivated for the final round of the Serie A campaign. However, Bologna showed resilience in their 2:3 away defeat to a determined Fiorentina side, indicating they will be keen to conclude a successful season with a strong home performance against Genoa.
Bologna
Bologna have managed only three wins in their last seven matches, though this run included a challenging schedule featuring two fixtures against AC Milan (1:3, 1:0), as well as matches against Inter Milan (1:0) and Juventus (1:1). At home, Bologna have accumulated 37 points from 18 matches and scored 32 goals — a tally surpassed by only four other clubs. In Florence, they registered 1.52 xG against Fiorentina but were undone by a poor finish to the match.
Genoa
Last weekend, Genoa put up a fight against Atalanta BC in a 2:3 loss, yet Genoa’s winless streak has now extended to six matches. Since 23 April, Genoa have earned just one point across five Serie A rounds, conceding a total of 10 goals. In the match against Atalanta, Genoa lost their starting defender Johan Vásquez to injury. With six other players also sidelined, Patrick Vieira faces limited options in terms of selection.
Bologna vs Genoa Prediction
The reverse fixture in Genoa ended in a 2:2 draw, though Bologna created more chances in that encounter, registering 0.75 xG and seven shots on target. Back on home soil, the Coppa Italia winners are expected to score at least twice.
