Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the FIFA Club World Cup match.
Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have delivered two very different performances so far in the tournament: they opened with a goalless draw against Fluminense (0:0), then followed up with a thrilling 4:3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns. The Germans have been prolific in front of goal recently, scoring at least three goals in seven of their last eight competitive fixtures. However, defensive frailties remain a concern — they have conceded more expected goals than their opponents in both matches so far (1.96–3.38 in xG).
Ulsan Hyundai
Ulsan Hyundai have shown determination and effort, but their lack of depth and technical quality has cost them. Losses to Mamelodi Sundowns (0:1) and Fluminense (2:4) ended their hopes of advancing. The only real positive has been their finishing efficiency — in the match against Fluminense, they netted twice from just 0.63 xG. At the back, though, their issues are clear: Ulsan Hyundai have conceded in each of their last six outings.
Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan Hyundai Prediction
The gulf in preparation, experience, and overall squad strength is significant. Borussia Dortmund are highly motivated to finish top of the group and are expected to play on the front foot. Ulsan Hyundai are unlikely to withstand the pressure and could easily concede three or more goals, particularly with Serhou Guirassy leading the line.
