Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2024 UEFA Euro qualifying play-offs match.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
The side has reached this stage because of their good performance in the UEFA Nations League. Bosnia lack some world-class players, unlike Ukraine. This is why the away team is the favourite. Autumn 2022 saw Bosnia and Herzegovina finishing 1st in the League B of the UEFA Nations League in the group that contained Finland, Montenegro and Romania. They got promoted and received a right to play in these play-offs. Bosnia and Herzegovina failed their UEFA Euro qualifying tournament, though, finishing penultimate (only Liechtenstein were worse). The main star of this side is Ermedin Demirović from Augsburg, with 14 goals and 8 assists in the 26 games of the current German season.
Ukraine
Ukraine could finish on the 2nd position until the very end. England topped the group, with Italy and Ukraine struggling for the 2nd place to qualify. Both teams hailed to score a goal in their head-to-head game on November 20 in Leverkusen. Although the last moments of the match saw a controversial episode with a possible foul against Mudryk. Zinchenko has recovered prior to this game, and he’s ready to be the leader of the midfielders.
Bosnia and Herzegovina – Ukraine prediction
The sides have played the head-to-head games in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. Ukraine ended their home game in a draw (1:1), beating Bosnia in the away game (2:0). Ukraine won’t miss their chance to qualify for the UEFA Euro. They’re stronger than Bosnia and Herzegovina.
