Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
Three days ago, the Brooklyn Nets pushed the Boston Celtics to the limit in a narrow 113:115 defeat. However, while the Celtics have enjoyed three full days of rest, the Nets had to host the Atlanta Hawks before travelling to Massachusetts. Can the favourites capitalise on their opponent’s fatigue?
Boston Celtics
Can an NBA team improve in just three days? If we’re talking about the Celtics, then absolutely. Al Horford and Derrick White have returned to the lineup, reinforcing Joe Mazzulla’s system. With their return, the Celtics' injury report is now empty. This is a major boost offensively, as the duo combine for 25.2 points per game. Additionally, Jayson Tatum is in outstanding form, averaging 30.6 points with 47% shooting and nine rebounds over his last 10 games.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets, on the other hand, are far from their best. They are missing two key forwards—Ziaire Williams and Noah Clowney—whose absence is most evident on the defensive end. In the three games without them, the Nets have conceded an average of 115 points, up from their season average of 111.7. Another significant issue is their perimeter defence, allowing opponents to shoot 36.5% from three (21st in the league). Against the most three-point-happy team in the NBA, this could spell trouble.
Boston Celtics vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction
Just days ago, the Boston Celtics surpassed this suggested total despite playing away and missing two key players. Now, back at home and well-rested, they are in an even stronger position. It’s unlikely the Brooklyn Nets can put up a better defensive display than in their home matchup, so expect the Celtics to at least match their previous scoring output.
