Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
One of the defining rivalries of recent seasons is gradually losing its edge. The sides have already clashed twice in Miami this regular season, with the Boston Celtics claiming both wins (103:85 and 103:91). Now it’s time for the return leg at TD Garden, where the Celtics will look to seal a season sweep.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics have been in sensational form through March, dropping just one game in 16 outings. They’re currently riding an eight-game winning streak, fuelled by elite defence. During this run, the Celtics have allowed a stingy 106.3 points per game — and this includes matchups against some of the league’s most dangerous offences: the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Nuggets and the Memphis Grizzlies.
Miami Heat
The Heat, meanwhile, arrive on a five-game win streak of their own, though the opposition has been far less imposing — bottom-tier sides and an injury-hit Golden State Warriors team. The results are solid on paper, but none of those teams pose the kind of threat the Celtics do. The last time the Heat faced serious opposition was a fortnight ago, when they lost to both the New York Knicks (95:116) and the Houston Rockets (98:102). Now they must attempt to break down a Celtics defence that is even more cohesive and ruthless.
Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat Prediction
Just two weeks ago, the Miami Heat managed only 91 points at home against the Boston Celtics. Now they head to TD Garden, where the atmosphere will be intense and unforgiving. Don’t expect things to get any easier for the Heat.
