Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Liverpool travel to face Bournemouth, who haven’t lost at home since 23 November and, more impressively, are unbeaten in 11 straight Premier League matches. Given their recent form, Bournemouth pose a bigger threat than PSV Eindhoven, whom Liverpool faced midweek.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth have won seven of their last 11 league matches but are still outside the European qualification places due to a poor start earlier in the season. They have failed to score just once in this run (against Crystal Palace), and the Both Teams to Score bet has landed in six of those 11 games. More importantly, Bournemouth’s attack is thriving, scoring 11 goals in their last three matches, all against Champions League contenders.
Liverpool
Liverpool haven’t failed to score in the Premier League since 14 September, when they suffered a shock defeat to Nottingham Forest (0:1). Across all competitions, only Tottenham Hotspur (0:1 in the EFL Cup) have managed to keep them at bay since then. However, defensively, Liverpool have only kept five clean sheets in 16 games since the start of winter. They are also coming off a tough match against PSV Eindhoven (2:3) in midweek, which ended their seven-match winning streak in the Champions League.
Bournemouth vs Liverpool Prediction
Bournemouth failed to score at Anfield in the first round, but this is a completely different team now in terms of confidence and attacking threat. Meanwhile, Liverpool are fatigued after their midweek clash and rarely keep clean sheets. Expect goals from both sides and a high-scoring affair.
