Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
On Saturday, the Brentford Community Stadium will host a classic British encounter featuring plenty of duels, crosses, and, of course, a battle until the final whistle. There's also curiosity over whether Brentford will start scoring early again.
Brentford
Could an early goal have helped them at Old Trafford? Brentford lost narrowly to Manchester City (1:2), though they did open the scoring, but it was in the final minute of the first half. Before the break, the team had some opportunities, but they were overwhelmed in the second half until the hosts secured the result they needed: 13 shots (8 on target) in the second half alone compared to two off-target efforts from the visitors. The good news is that the away trip is now behind them, and Brentford return home, where they remain unbeaten: three wins and a draw.
Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town won't be intimidated. They can secure points: in two of their four away games, the team have drawn, against Brighton and Southampton. Brentford stand somewhere between them in quality. The main threat from Ipswich Town is the counterattack, where Liam Delap excels — the club's top scorer with four goals. Sammie Szmodics holds tremendous potential, although he has scored just once so far.
Brentford vs Ipswich Town Prediction
At home, Brentford take almost twice as many shots on goal as they do away, so they're likely to score at least once. Ipswich Town will certainly respond: the Premier League newcomers have scored in three of their four away matches. Also, the second prediction should hold true: the hosts will not lose.
