Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EFL Cup match.
Both clubs reached the third round of the League Cup thanks to narrow away victories. A trip to play a Premier League team will be a significant challenge for Leyton Orient.
Brentford
Last weekend, Brentford faced the reigning Premier League champions. They got off to an incredibly good start, scoring in the 22nd second of the match, but things quickly turned around in the first half. Manchester City easily scored two goals and saw out the victory. Additionally, Thomas Frank has another problem: before the break, Brentford lost Yoane Wissa to injury, the player who scored their only goal. It is not yet known how long his recovery will take, but he is definitely out for Tuesday's match. While the Congolese forward can be replaced in the match against a League One side without much trouble, his absence will be keenly felt in the Premier League.
Leyton Orient
In the League Cup, the East London club has performed better than in the League One. In the 1/32 stage of the Cup, Leyton Orient managed to defeat Millwall from the Championship (1:0), a division higher. However, in League One, they have struggled. The team lost their first four matches, with a total score of 2:8, and only last weekend did they secure their first points by winning away at Reading (1:0). It is evident that there are matches where Leyton Orient can keep a clean sheet, but overall, their average rate has been two goals conceded per game. Against a solid Premier League team, it will be hard to concede fewer.
Brentford vs Leyton Orient Prediction
At their stadium, Brentford have won both of their matches, scoring at least two goals in each. Against a team two divisions lower, they shouldn't have any issues with scoring and getting the result.
