Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Brentford suffered their first home defeat of the season in the last round, and they perform significantly less impressively on the road. However, Brighton haven't been delivering great results since mid-November either. Perhaps the home advantage could be the key for them to secure a victory.
Brighton
Brighton haven't won in their last five matches—drawing twice and losing three. It's worth noting that in each of these games, both teams found the back of the net. This “Both Teams to Score” pattern has been present for 10 consecutive matches.
Brentford
Brentford endured their first home loss in the league, a 2:0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, and it was the first time in six matches they failed to score. This ended a five-match run where both teams scored, including a midweek League Cup clash against Newcastle United (1:3). Such setbacks have been rare for them this season—only three in 17 rounds. Brentford have numerous injuries of varying severity (nine), but their main scorers, Bryan Mbeumo (10 goals) and Yoane Wissa (9 goals) are fit. Kevin Schade, with four goals to his name, is also hitting form. However, their defence is troubled by four injuries, including centre-back Kristoffer Ajer. The Dane missed seven matches, returned against Chelsea, and got injured again in the last outing. He damaged his ankle and will be out until February.
Brighton vs Brentford Prediction
Given these defensive issues, Brentford are likely to concede, but their attack usually compensates. The outcome could still go either way, but we are confident that both teams will score.
