Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Brighton have won three consecutive away matches, but they have failed to secure a victory at home in four attempts. It may appear that Everton have a chance, but conclusions should not be rushed.
Brighton
The three clubs Brighton defeated on the road are not currently on their level. Yes, Manchester United (3:1) are included, but they are struggling and vulnerable to defeats. The others—a weak Ipswich Town side (2:0) by Premier League standards and Norwich City (4:0) of the Championship—were from the FA Cup. At home, they last dropped points against Arsenal (1:1), with only one loss in four games. What does that indicate? That Brighton are emerging from their slump.
Everton
Everton achieved their first win under returning manager David Moyes when they edged Tottenham Hotspur (3:2). However, that match was at Goodison Park. Once away from Liverpool, their form appears far less promising—they have not won since October (2:0 against Ipswich Town). Everton have not been prolific this season, and despite scoring three in the last round, they average less than a goal per game (18 in 21 matches). Away, their tally dips further—six goals in 10 games, and in the last six, only one, while conceding just three in five trips. Only Manchester United disrupted their defensive record with a heavy defeat (4:0).
Brighton vs Everton Prediction
The best the Merseyside club might hope for is a 0:0 draw or a 1:0 win if luck favours them defensively. However, with just one away win in 10 matches, optimism is hard to find. It's safer to bet on a low scoring match.
