Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Segunda División match.
Burgos have been alternating wins and defeats in recent rounds, but the fixture list now hands them a favourable opponent. Granada have made a disastrous start to the season and sit rock bottom of the table.
Burgos
The season began in style with a 5:1 demolition of Leonesa, but results dipped sharply afterwards. Burgos were held to two goalless draws by Las Palmas and Deportivo La Coruña, lost 1:2 to Andorra, and only snatched a late 3:2 win over Sporting Gijón. The team have been far too open defensively, allowing 26 shots on target across five games. Against Sporting alone they conceded 29 attempts and an expected goals tally of 2.76.
Granada
For Granada the start has been nothing short of catastrophic: four defeats and just a single draw, a 2:2 against Málaga. Discipline has been their biggest issue, with three red cards already this campaign, and it has cost them results. Even so, the team have at least found the net in three of their five matches, scoring four times from 3.8 xG. Their goals came against Deportivo (1:3), the current league leaders, and twice against Málaga, who have otherwise conceded only five in six games. Head-to-head form also favours Granada, who have scored at least once in three of their last four meetings with Burgos.
Burgos vs Granada Prediction
Burgos may be in better shape overall, but their defensive problems are clear to see. Despite Granada’s poor form, they create enough to trouble the opponents and should find a way through.
