Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Burnley and Coventry City have identical form over their last five matches, each earning eight points, but they are heading in different directions in the table. Will this divergence towards opposite ends continue?
Burnley
Burnley have won their last two games, yet they remain unable to break into the top three. The blame lies with an unfortunate series of four matches around late October and early November, just before the international break. The general trend in their games is very few goals: no more than one in the last five, no more than two in the last seven, and no more than three in the last fifteen.
Coventry City
Coventry City's recent matches have been quite high-scoring, at least the last five, and in four of those, they scored two goals. However, scoring twice against Burnley, who have only conceded six goals all season, is quite the challenge. They haven't conceded two goals in a game at all. Moreover, in more than half of their matches—9 out of 16—Coventry have been limited to scoring just once or not at all.
Burnley vs Coventry City Prediction
As Coventry City continue under the interim management of Rhys Carr, this doesn't bode well for the visitors ahead of their clash with one of the Championship's leaders. The visitors are unlikely to defeat the hosts or score twice, so our prediction is a double chance for Burnley with a total under 3.5.
