Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Burnley secured another clean sheet in their last match against Oxford United (1:0). If they manage another shutout here, they will equal Torquay United’s Football League record of 10 consecutive clean sheets, set in 2010.
Burnley
Despite their impressive defensive record, Burnley have struggled to convert their dominance into wins. In their last five league matches, they have drawn three times, all 0:0 results. It’s understandable against strong opponents like Sunderland and Leeds United, but dropping points against Portsmouth was frustrating. Burnley remain in the automatic promotion race, but they need to return to winning ways to stay ahead of their rivals. With Sunderland dropping points, Burnley still hold second place, but they cannot afford more slip-ups.
Hull City
Hull City are fighting to stay in the Championship, so they won’t be gifting any easy points. In their last match, they self-destructed against fellow relegation contenders Stoke City, losing 1:2 at home after taking the lead. However, Hull City are a dangerous side, as shown by their away win over Sheffield United (3:0), who sit second in the league. They are a difficult team to break down, and in their last 12 league matches, they have not lost by more than one goal.
Burnley vs Hull City Prediction
There’s no guarantee Burnley will keep another clean sheet, but no team has beaten them at Turf Moor this season. While Hull securing a draw seems unlikely, a narrow win for Burnley looks the most probable outcome.
