Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Burnley
Burnley did not hold out in Manchester and conceded the decisive penalty in the 97th minute (2:3). Both goals were fashioned through the efforts of the former Manchester City player Kyle Walker: a cross from his flank found Lyle Foster, and Kyle Walker launched a long throw-in that led to the second. The veteran has faced Liverpool many times, so problems are likely at least on the visitors’ left side of the defence. The team has a solitary home win, but there is no comparing the newly promoted side Sunderland (2:0) with the champions.
Liverpool
The champions are on a different level. At times they look as if they are playing against themselves. In Matchweek 3 they faced their first serious test in the form of Arsenal, and they stood up to it. Liverpool have plenty of new arrivals across the forward line, and they still need to be integrated into the starting XI, but the winning goal from a free-kick was scored by Dominik Szoboszlai, who already looks at ease in Arne Slot’s system. Against Burnley, Arne Slot may rest one or two first-choice players, given they spent the week on international duty, but the gap should still be evident.
Burnley vs Liverpool Prediction
When Burnley were relegated from the English Premier League, Liverpool beat them routinely twice: 2:0 away and 3:1 at Anfield. It may not be such a margin this time, but Liverpool’s victory should come with Total Over 2.5 Goals.
