Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Both sides were relegated from the Premier League less than a year ago, but their paths have since diverged. Burnley have established themselves near the top of the Championship, currently holding onto third place, while Luton Town have struggled to stay afloat and now find themselves in the relegation zone.
Burnley
Burnley’s incredible 12-match clean sheet streak finally came to an end, with goalkeeper James Trafford conceding for the first time in 1132 minutes. Cardiff City broke his resistance late in the first half of their previous fixture, but by then, Burnley were already 2:0 up and went on to secure a second consecutive victory. They men remain in the hunt for automatic promotion, though their 14 draws have prevented them from overtaking Sheffield United in second place. If not for so many draws, Burnley might already be in a direct promotion spot.
Luton Town
Despite their lowly position, Luton Town are not the easiest side to break down. In their last match, they secured a rare 1:0 win over Portsmouth, their first victory in 13 league matches. However, goals remain a major issue—they have failed to score in 6 of their 11 league games in 2025. Their tendency towards low-scoring encounters is clear, with 9 of their last 11 matches featuring under 2.5 goals.
Burnley vs Luton Town Prediction
One result stands out from earlier in the season—Burnley ruthlessly dismantled Luton Town (4:1) away. That game marked the beginning of a dramatic decline for Luton, who have yet to recover. At home, Burnley remain unbeaten, though they have drawn quite a few matches. However, with Luton averaging 1.6 goals conceded per game, the hosts should have the quality to edge this one comfortably while keeping the scoreline modest.
