Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Burnley are locked in a fierce battle for automatic promotion to the Premier League. Following an unexpected slip-up against Derby County (0:0), Burnley surrendered the top spot but remain firmly in contention to reclaim first place. With only a few rounds remaining, there is no margin for error—especially in matches against mid-standings sides like Norwich City.
Burnley
Burnley have put together a remarkable 28-game unbeaten run in the English Football League Championship and continue to impress at Turf Moor, recording 11 wins and 9 draws at home. The standout performer has been James Trafford, who has kept 28 clean sheets in 40 appearances this season. Offensively, Burnley have also shown their quality, scoring in seven of their last eight matches—netting at least twice in five of those. By Championship standards, that is an impressive return. Josh Brownhill has been the focal point in attack, notching 13 goals.
Norwich City
Norwich City are in crisis, with just one win in their last seven league outings and four consecutive away matches without a victory. They currently trail the play-off zone by nine points, largely due to a leaky backline that has conceded 56 goals—the 18th worst defensive record in the division. Their recent record against Burnley is also poor, having lost three straight meetings with a combined goal difference of 1:6.
Burnley vs Norwich City Prediction
The two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of both form and motivation. Burnley are chasing top spot and thrive at home, while Norwich City appear to have lost hope of reaching the play-offs and continue to struggle on the road. As such, Burnley are expected to collect another three points, as they did in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
